The St.Petersburg hotel complex includes over 100 hotel accommodations (32,706 beds in 16,472 rooms) of different categories and ownership status. It includes apart from first, middle, and economy class hotels (20,713 beds in 11,022 rooms), small educational, scientific and administrative establishments- hotels.
From 2000 the stable improvement in hotels- operation is observed, which allows for the forecasts of further industry growth. The latter is marked not only by the appearance of new hotel accommodations (in 2000 - 2,020 beds in 745 rooms), but also and in the first place by improvements in hotels- financial operations which made possible for the hotels to reinvest in their enterprises development (by the end 2000, about 1,900 rooms were renovated).
Being complex and dynamic, contemporary market conditions introduce a high demand in consistent interaction between all members of the city-s hospitality industry - including museums, theatres, transport agencies, etc.
The important role of pulling together the efforts for the hotel complex strategic development, including issues connected with infrastructure improvement and city promotion as an international hospitality centre on the run up to its Tercentenary Celebrations in 2003 belongs to the COUNCIL FOR HOTELS- DEVELOPMENT.
